midweek message

My hope for all who read this is that you find time to rest before the Lord this year and enjoy the days that He gives you.  Someone wrote that if we would look at everything as though we were seeing it for the first time or the last time our time on this earth would be filled with joy. David wrote in Psalms 62 these words, “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.”

Our lives can be full of stress and anxiety if we let them, but our lives can be peaceful and calm if we will wait quietly before the Lord.  We choose each morning whether we will be joyful and positive or unhappy and negative.  Oh I know there will be circumstances which will try to steal our joy,  but don’t let them.  Happiness depends on our circumstances, but we can have joy in the Lord in spite of our circumstances.  Happiness can disappear when our lives are in turmoil, but joy can remain even when life is tough.

When I was going to Hardin Simmons University our president would begin every chapel service with this verse.  “This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalms 118: 24)  Why not decide to begin this year giving thanks to God for each day He gives us and ask Him to lead us in His path for our lives?

Lord I thank you for giving me life and helping me to walk in your ways.  I will trust You each day that  you  give me.

God Bless and “Keep Spurring.”
