Where were you the morning of September 11, 2001? Most of us know where we were and what we were doing. I went to work as usual , walked into the break room and on the T V I saw it happen. Two planes hit the World Trade Center Buildings. What started out as a normal day, became a day of tragedy. By most accounts, 2977 people lost their lives. 400 of those were police officers and firefighters. So many lives were changed that day. So many lost and so many family members left behind. Sunday I will share with you the story of one of those lost.
The Bible verse that came to my mind was written by Paul in Romans 8:28. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
My question for us is this: Can God cause anything good to come from this tragic day or any trial of life? I know with God all things are possible. That day I saw our President Bush show genuine compassion and resolve to right the wrong that was done. I saw our country become united. I saw a foundation formed to build houses for those seriously injured and for families who lost a loved one. I saw people return to church to worship. My hope is people gave their hearts and lives to the Lord realizing how uncertain life is.
As we observe the 20th anniversary of 9-11 let God remind us of our blessings of life. Let us remember those families whose lives were changed forever. Let us ask God to work good from the trials of our lives as we put our trust in Him and carry out His purpose for our lives.
God bless and “Keep Spurring.”
